REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT A. Francisco Gold Condominium II, EDSA, Diliman, Quezon City October 26, 2006

TO : ALL PROVINCIAL GOVERNORS,
                  CITY MAYORS, MUNICIPAL MAYORS,
                  DILG REGIONAL DIRECTORS AND OTHERS
                  CONCERNED

SUBJECT: IMPROPER USE OF THE PROFESSIONAL
                  NURSES UNIFORM
_______________________________________________

The Pambansang Samahan ng mga Nars ng Pilipinas,
Inc., (Philippine Nurses Association, Inc.) has sought the
assistance of this Department in addressing the improper
use of the Professional Nurses uniform such as selling of
figurines that portray nurses in sexually-provocative
postures or allowing waitresses or entertainers in
restaurants or bars to wear skimpy nurses uniform.

It has to be emphasized that only registered nurses
can wear such uniform which, together with the nursing
cap and pin, is a symbol of purity, commitment and service
to mankind.

Relative to this, all City Mayors and Municipal Mayors
are enjoined to prohibit the improper display or use of
such uniform in department stores, restaurants or bars, if
any, since such a practice demeans the image and
integrity of the nursing profession.

All DILG Regional Directors are hereby directed to
cause the immediate and widest dissemination of this
Department Issuance to cities and municipalities within
their regional assignments.
